Bandar Seri
Begawan - Even though Hari Raya is about three weeks away,
manufacturers, distributors and retailers are stocking up early to
prepare for the festivities.
Mr
Valentine Hon, General Manager of Kingston Beverage & Creamery Sdn Bhd,
told the Bulletin that they have made standard preparations like
previous years. He said that production of soft drinks had started
since last Month to cater to the Raya demand.
Two to three months prior to Ramadhan,
the company had brought in more raw materials than usual for
packaging, he said.
Meanwhile Mr Eddie Lu, Manager of
Syarikat Aliaa -Sdn Bhd, said that they have stocked up to cater to
the high demand for Raya.
He believes that there will be an
increase in terms of purchases made on essential items for Hari Raya
two weeks prior to the festivities.
Both Mr Hon and Mr Lu hoped that with
the salary increment, there would be a rise in demand for items for
Hari Raya.
There might be a slight increase in
the sale of soft drinks this year, according to Mr Robert Tadong, the
supervisor of groceries at SupaSave Gadong.
Supa
Save has increased its stock of soft drinks by 30 per cent compared to
last year. It has also prepared more hampers this year, with prices
ranging from $60 to $200.
Mr
Tadong said that sale of essential items for Hari Raya would be at its
peak a few days before the festivities.
However, observers noted that some
were splurging more on clothing and vehicles this year with their
salary increment. -- Courtesy of Borneo
