Begawan - Consumers who suspect that any establishment is
unfairly marking up prices during the 2006 Brunei Grand Sale can
contact the Economic Planning and Development Department (JPKE)
hotline at 2230223 during office hours.
An officer from the agency encouraged
the public to come forward so that the relevant Another man said that
he was shocked to see that a shop,. where he had bought an item for
$200 before the grand sale, had marked up the price for the same item
to $300. "1 will never go to that shop again," he said.
Even though the majority of shops,
which are taking part in the Brunei Grand Sale, have lowered their
prices accordingly, it is important for the public to be more careful
when purchasing items, he said agency can carry out investigations.
The officer was responding to a story
published in the Bulletin last Sunday where consumers complained about
price abuses by a few establishments.
A consumer told the Bulletin that he
noticed that the price for a certain item was $45 before the sale.
However, when the Brunei Grand Sale was launched, the price was marked
