Samsung claims world's thinnest
DMB phone
Seoul -
South Korea's Samsung Electronics unveiled what it claims to be the
world's thinnest phone for digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB).
"This is the world's thinnest and
lightest DMB phone, which enables users to watch television ... at any
time and any place," a Samsung official said.
The new phone, 8.4 millimeters (0.336
inches) thick, weighs 72 grams (2.52 ounces), she said.
The number of South Korean DMB
subscribers has soared to an estimated 1.85 million from 490,000 at
the end of last year, contributing to brisk handset sales. The country
launched DMB services last year. --
