Home Affairs Holds 'Tedarus' At
Belait, Tutong Mosques

The Minister of Home Affairs and a delegation from the Ministry
of Home Affairs and departments under it attended religious ceremonies
held at mosques in Belait and Tutong Districts over the past two days.
On Sunday, Pehin Dato Seri Setia Awg
Hj Adanan attended a 'tedarus' ceremony held in conjunction with the
holy month of Ramadhan, at the Bukit Sawat Mosque in Labi in Belait
District.
The ceremony began with the mass al-Quran
recital (tedarus), which was followed by a `tahlii' ceremony, led by
the Imam of Bukit Sawat Mosque, Awg Hj Ahmad bin Hj Othman.
During the religious event, the
Minister also presented the Imam with two prayer mats, al-Quran 'rehal'
and 'tahtim', which was contributed as a 'wakaf' to the mosque.
Also presenting 'wakaf' at the
ceremony was the event's cochairman, Belait District Officer Awg Hj
Mohammad bin Hj Abdul Rahman. The Chairman of Kuala Belait and Seria
Municipal Board Pg Hj Ali bin Pg Hj Othman also presented wakaf in the
form of two standing fans.
The religious ceremony was also
attended by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Dato PadukaAwg Hj
Dani, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, officials
and staff at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Penghulu-penghulu Mukim,
Ketua-ketua Kampong and residents of Mukim Bukit Sawat.
The tedarus ceremony at the mosque
was jointly organised by Ministry of Home Affairs, Belait District
Office and Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board.
The Minister of Home Affairs and
delegation attended another 'tedarus' ceremony on Monday afternoon,
this time at the Kg Bukit SulanglMenengah Mosque in Tutong District.
The 'bertadarus' ceremony was
organised by the Tutong District Office, Tutong Municipal Department
and the Mukim Consultative Council, and was attended by more than 100
individuals including Tutong District Office staff as well as village
residents.
A tahlil ceremony and prayer recital
was held after the tedarus ceremony, followed by the break of fast and
mass prayers. Towards the end of the ceremony, Pehin Hj Adanan
presented a `wakaf' or a donation to the mosque.
Also present at the tedarus ceremony
were Pehin Hj Dani, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Dato Paduka
Awg Hj Idris Belaman, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Dato Paduka
Awg Hj Adman Hj Hanafiah, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Tutong District
Officer Awg Abdul Mutalib Hj Mohd Idris as well as Penghulu-penghulu
Mukim, and Ketua-ketua Kampong from Tutong District.
