Alleged ‘Dato’ Impersonator Withdraws His Guilty Plea
By Malai FadleyRizal and Rol Ezam

Bandar Seri Begawan - A local man charged with impersonating a "Data" had withdrawn last week's guilty plea and denied the charge yesterday.

Abu Sofian Mohd Zin was released on a court bail of $3,000 or one local surety pending trial in November.

The charge alleges that he had deceived a 53- year-old man in the vicinity of a parking lot in Tutong District near a shop by pretending to be Dato Hj Adanan bin Hanafiah and had thereby dishonestly induced the man to deliver $500 to the defendant purportedly for payment of car repairs. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
