Raya Clothes Among Items Stolen Last-Week

Bandar Seri Begawan - Prostitution, Short Message Service (SMS) threats and the disappearance of Hari Raya clothes were among the cases reported last week, police said yesterday.

Three women aged between 30-31 years old from mainland China were detained at a hotel in the capital for alleged involvement in prostitution.

Three cars were also broken-into leading to the loss of a mobile phone, car key, a tape player, a speaker, an amplifier, a pre-amp, a tyre and two engine batteries.

Nine homes and government buildings were burgled where valuable items lost included Hari Raya clothes that are ordered, eight car sports rims, water metre, two aluminium doors, 12 car sports rim, five wrist watches, three gold rings, cash amounting to $485, RM45 and Peso 800, a mobile phone, an identity card, a camera and important documents.

The break-ins were detected in Kg Madang, Rimba national housing scheme and Kg Ratan Labi in rural part of Labi, Pancur Murai electrical station, Lubuk Sigurun in Kg Mulaut, Ministry of Health flat at Kg Kiarong, a shop at Aman Complex, Kg Sg Tilong and Kg Lambak Kanan, and shop house in Gadong. A man and woman were arrested in connection with these cases. Meanwhile two cars, Hyundai Accent and Toyota Carina, were also found missing.

An Indonesian waitress lost cash and identity card when her bag was snatched along with a mobile phone when she walked along a bridge near The Mall in Gadong.

An SMS disturbance, an SMS criminal threat, a fraud case, two vandalism cases and a criminal threat were also recorded. A criminal breach of trust (CBT) case involving a man was also detected.

Other crimes reported included two Customs Act cases leading to the arrests of two foreign men, one immigration case leading to the arrests of a foreign woman and man, as well as three Misuse of Drugs Act resulting to the arrests of seven local men.

As for accidents, eight car collisions and eight self accidents were recorded, leading to the death of a 78-yearold man and one person sustaining minor injury. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
