Bandar Seri
Begawan - The case of a missing handphone is one of the many
mysteries in a murder case in which a family of three met with
horrifying deaths under shocking circumstances two years ago.
The woman, Seniwati binte Untong, 37,
a lecturer, was tortured and sexually assaulted and met with a violent
death at the hands of her attacker or attackers, the court now hearing
the case was told.
She was found with her night gown and
had suffered multiple wounds all over her body and tortured before
finally being strangled.
Her husband, Maul bin Jambu, a
44-year-old Royal Brunei Airlines mechanic, was brutally bashed
repeatedly with a heavy object possibly while trying to get away from
his assailants.
There was blood everywhere.
Nothing was missing from the house.
Not a piece of jewellery, gold or cash was touched.
But the lone object that had vanished
was Maul's handphone.
A thorough search was made, Police
Investigating Officer ASP Sabtu told the High Court. But Maul's
handphone (8839359) which could have contained valuable information
was gone.

53, a neighbour, was arrested and charged with the triple murders soon
after the tragedy.
The deceased included two-year-old
NeenaAsmira, the couple's adopted daughter, who was smothered with a
pillow.
The deaths happened at a government
bungalow in Kampong Serusop in mid December 2004 and Richard was
arrested two months later and charged. He is denying all charges.

Justice Dato Steven Chong are hearing the case.
Prosecution is led by Deputy Public
Prosecutor Haji Yusree and assisted by DPP Pengiran Nina Jasmine.
