RBSF Braces For Tougher
Excellence, Professionalism Standards
By Husin Ismail
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Royal Brunei Services Forces will review its
current skills and career management system in a bid to enhance its
professionalism and expertise.
Colonel Pg Haji Azmansham bin Pg Haji
Mohammad, the Commandant of the Services Forces, yesterday said
although the organisation had done well since its inception 15 years
ago, there was no room for complacency.
As such, the special forces' career
guidelines and technical skills rules for its officers and specialist
personnel would be revised and streamlined, he said in his speech at
the special forces' 15th anniversary.
He also announced that the "Quality
Management System" would be introduced in stages to all units
including administrative, recruitment and logistics.
He said the changes were made after
careful consideration; following his takeover as commandant in June
last year.
"Ever since I took over as
commandant, I have identified many things that can be improved to
enhance our capability and competency, so that we can maintain our
professionalism and confidence in meeting the challenges around us,"
he said.
Colonel Pg Haji Azmansham said the
new quality management system would ensure proper recording and
auditing of "every single action".
"Full commitment by all personnel is
necessary so that the Support Services will be able to provide a
consistently high standard of service.
"We also need to be open minded
towards changes so that we are ready for any new defence procedures
which may be introduced in the future," urged the Commandant.
He then stressed that all heads of
departments should strive to improvise the means by which they
supervise their personnel and execute their responsibilities.
The Commandant, in his speech, also
thanked all members for their contributions, which have helped develop
the support service team.
"Our members' involvement in
providing relief help for the victims of the Aceh tsunami disaster and
the recent earthquake in Yogyakarta, and in the Aceh monitoring
mission, as well as our International Monitoring Team in Mindanao, and
soon in Lebanon, are stepping stones to our development," Colonel Pg
Haji Azmansham said.
Earlier, the Commandant inspected the
passing-out parade of 800 male and female uniformed personnel led by
Major Haslen bin Hj Hassan.
The celebration was held at the
Parade Square A, Bolkiah Garrison, to commemorate the establishment of
the Support Services on October 1, 1991.
