Reading Al-Quran During Holy Month

Bandar Seri Begawan - To glorify the month of Ramadhan, Muslims are encouraged to read al-Quran. Fifteen members from the NDP Tadarus Group have been making house to house visits to recite the holy book since September 29.

According to Pg Haji Abu Bakar Pg DP Hj Mohamad, the Quran recital (Tedarus) will end on October 12 at the residence of Pg Chuchu Pg Duraman in Kg Bendahara Lama, Bandar Seri Begawan.

The Khatam al-Quran ceremony will be held on October 13 at Simpang 323, Jalan Jerudong. The Tedarus session was held on September 28 at the residence of Khalid Hj Ghazali in Kampong Sungai Hanching.

The group hopes to complete reciting the 30 chapters of al-Quran by October 12.

Ramadhan is also referred to as the month of alQuran since it was during the fasting month when Allah began revealing the holy book to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

During the holy month, most Muslims make an effort to finish reading the Quran, at least once. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
