Religious Ceremonies During Ramadhan

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides' Association held a Khatam al-Quran ceremony. at its headquarters in Berakas.

Chief Commissioner Hjh Siti Hafsah Hj Abd Halim as well as other members of the women's council and Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides' Association took part inthe religious ceremony.

Since the 'tedarus' ceremony began on the first day of Ramadhan, members have been taking turns reciting verses from alQuran every night.

The Khatam al-Quran was led by Ustazah Hjh Fatimah bte Hj Abd Ghani, development commissioner of the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides' Association and assistant director of Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The girl guides' association was formed between 1966 and 1967. It was registered in 1969, and currently has over 1,700 members. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
