Kite flying, or "main kikik", is one of the few remaining traditional games that is still popular among locals today. Regardless of age and gender, kite flying is an annual activity enjoyed by many across the country.

However, there are a number of problems associated with the game. Firstly, a kite-flying competition called "berpulut", which features a head-to-head battle between two players using razor sharp string to try and cut each other's kite off. In order to ensure victory, contestants often sharpen their strings by coating them with powdered glass and a special form of liquid glue. While the game is fun for those who participate in it, the string's sharpness means it is also a dangerous activity that is capable of wounding the contestants as well as the audience.

Secondly, kite players, particularly the young ones, tend to get carried away while flying kites. Often, they would end up in the middle of the road without realising it, exposing themselves to traffic hazards.

Due to these possible dangers, kite enthusiasts are urged to be sensible and be mindful of safety issues in order to avoid being caught up in unnecessary mishaps.
