New Alliance Francaise Premises
Officially Opens

Begawan - The new premises of Alliance Francaise was officially
declared open Tuesday night by Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad,
Deputy Minister of Education.
Also present were French Ambassador
to Brunei, Mr. Patrick Bonneville, foreign dignitaries as well as
other guests.
The new premises are located in Jln
Telanai. The main aim of Alliance Francaise is to act as a centre of
learning and promote the French culture and language not only in
Brunei but around the globe.
RTB reported that during the evening,
a French research fellow at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Mr Bruno
Digiusto, delivered a presentation on "The Amazing Relationship
Between Pitcher Plants and Insects".
Meanwhile, Head of Research and
Development at the Fisheries Department, Dayang Ranimah binti Haji
Abdul. Wahab, explained about the fishing activities in the country,
RTB said. An exhibition was also held on fisheries research and marine
ecosystem.
Meanwhile, two students received
awards at the function. According to the French Embassy, Pg Dato Seri
Setia Dr Hj Mohammad presented the French Diploma of DELF Al to Siti
Athirah Binti Ramlan from Maktab Sains. She obtained the best score
for this diploma in March 2005.
Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad
presented Farah Nabilah Bte Abd Razak from STIPRI with a certificate
for obtaining the best score at the "French Oral Expression" organised
by Alliance Francaise in March 2005. According to the French Embassy,
she was sent, thanks to that prize, to Singapore, in March 2005, in
order to participate in the contest "Les Olympiades du Frangais".
