Begawan - The three children of a jailed Filipino couple who
were found to have violated the Immigration Act by overstaying in this
country since April last year returned home to Manila by Royal Brunei

According to details released by the
Philippines Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, the three children aged ten,
eight and three were allowed to return home with the help of the
Department of Immigration and the National Registration Department
which issued the clearance.
Their air tickets were provided by
the embassy with the help of the Philippines government.
Their parents were jailed for five
months including three strokes of the cane for the father after they
both pleaded guilty to overstaying before the Magistrate's Court last
Sept 17.
The 36-year-old father possessed a
social visit pass which expired on April 3, 2004 while the 41-year-old
mother had a pass that expired on April 4, 2004.
The couple was caught after an
inspection conducted by the Immigration Enforcement Unit last Sept 14
at a commercial centre at Mile 1 Jalan Tutong.
Following their detention, they were
found to have three children at a house in Kg Jangsak.
The eldest child held a travel
document that expired in July 2004 while his eight-year-old brother
also held a visit pass that had expired more than a year ago. The
youngest sibling, aged three, has been without a passport or other
