Brunei Delivers 5000th LNG Cargo
To Japan

Begawan - In another milestone reached by Brunei LNG it has
successfully made the 5000th delivery of LNG to its customers in
Japan.
A ceremony was held yesterday in
Tokyo in the presence of the Minister of Energy at the Prime
Minister's Office and Chairman of Brunei LNG Board of Directors, YB
Pehin Dato Seri Paduka Awang Hj Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj
Bakar as the chief guest.
In his speech, the Minister said that
the achievement showed another important chapter in the long-standing
and warm relations between Brunei LNG and its Japanese LNG buyers.

Dato PadukaAwang Hi Yahya reiterated that the relationship has been
strengthened for the past 33 years and that this important milestone
is a testimony to the deep understanding and cooperation that exist
with the various stakeholders, the LNG Buyers, the transporters,
service providers and upstream suppliers.
Meanwhile in the welcoming remarks by
Awang Haji Mohd Said bin Ahmad, BLNG's Acting Managing Director, he
spoke about BLNG's Asset Reference Plan Project in which the 4 Main
Cryogenic Heat Exchangers (MCHE) have completely been replaced.
He also highlighted that BLNG will
implement another two big stand alone projects namely the Power Plant
project and the upgrade of the existing cooling water systems.
These projects together with various
improvement works will enhance the operational reliability of BLNG's
plant.
He further added that with the
completion of the NICHE Replacement project, it will not only add to
supply reliability but more importantly the ability to sustain
production at a higher level annually above the present contractual
quantity.
Prior the event, the Brunei
delegation led by Minister of Energy made a courtesy visit to
Sodeguara Terminal in Tokyo Bay.
Brunei began establishing itself in
1972 as the first LNG plant in the Western Pacific, the third in the
world after Alaska and Algeria. The project helped to establish LNG'
as a global source of energy and the first LNG cargo was successfully
delivered to Japan the same year.
Japan remains Brunei LNG's main
customer accounting for about 11.1 % of Japan's total LNG imports with
buyers in Japan including Tokyo Electric Power, Tokyo Gas and Osaka
Gas.
Brunei LNG in a statement have said
that the unsurpassed record of LNG supply underlines the robustness
and resilience of the Brunei value chain and the deep spirit of
cooperation that underpins the established relationship between BLNG
and its customers, gas suppliers namely Brunei Shell Petroleum and
BBJV operated by Total, its shipping partners, Brunei Shell Tankers
and Brunei Gas Carriers and the shareholders namely the Government of
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Shell
and Mitsubishi Corporation. --
