Education Ministry Holds Bertedarus
Ceremony
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - To glorify Ramadhan as a month when al-Quran was sent
down to guide mankind, the Ministry of Education will be organising a
mass al-Quran recital or Bertedarus ceremony on November I at the Kg
Sg Hanching Mosque in Jalan Muara.
Hosted by Pehin Dato PadukaAwang Hj
Suyoi bin Hj Osman, Deputy Minister of Education, the religious
activity of Tedarus will commence after the mass Asr prayers.
The al-Quran recital will be followed
by a Tahlil and Doa Arwah, led by Imam Hj Mahalee bin Hj Besar.
The event will continue with a
bersungkai ceremony.
After mass Maghrib prayers, those
attending the ceremony will be treated to a sumptuous dinner.
The multi-religious activities are
aimed at glorifying the month of Ramadhan with fruitful religious
activities while fostering closer relationship among the staff of
Ministry of Education.
The secretary of Takmir Committee of
Masjid Kg Sg Hanching, Hj Mohd Zaide bin Hj Damit called for another
greater participation of the event by Muslims residing in the vicinity
of the mosque.
He said by attending the event,
Muslims can feel the importance of Ramadhan and the spiritual aspects
of fasting.
"Ramadhan is a month devoted to
worshipping. Fasting is not meant to punish the body but to strengthen
the mind and directing it to higher beings.
"Therefore by participating in
religious activities, we are boosting and revitalising our weak iman
(faith) so that we can adhere to the commands of Allah in the way
shown to us by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)," he said.
He added fasting is an exercise of
discipline and a total act of worship.
"Indeed, the month of Ramadhan should
be used to reflect and question whether we Muslims are really on the
right path," he said. --
