Defective Generator Leads To Power Blackout

Bandar Seri Begawan - Residents in parts of Jalan Mulaut had experienced four blackouts lasting for several hours in the last three days.

This has caused disruptions to their Har Raya preparations, and they said they feared the blackouts could carry on until Hari Raya.

When contacted, the Department of Electrical Services (DES) in Sengkurong said the blackout was caused by a defective generator supplying electricity.

"DES engineers and technicians from Gadong are repairing the generator. It is hoped they could finish the repair as soon as possible," said an official yesterday.

The residents meanwhile hope the work can be completed as soon as possible.

They said at first they thought the blackouts were due to an upsurge in electrical usage.

"However, apart from residents making cakes and biscuits, no house has been seen lighting up multi-coloured festivity lights yet," said a resident.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
