$3,000 Fine For Youth Drug User

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 21-year-old man was fined $3,000 or serve 6 months' imprisonment in default after pleading guilty to two charges of consuming Methylamphetamine while under supervision before the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Hj Hamdilah Hj Othman was imposed a fine of $1500 or 3 months' jail on each charge of consuming the Class A controlled drug, which is also popularly known as Syabu.

Narcotics Control Bureau's Prosecuting Officer, Pg Othman Pg Hj Ali, told Senior Magistrate Hj. Abdullah Soefri that the defendant was detained by NCB Supervision Officers on September 29, last year after his urine sample taken earlier had tested positive for the said drug. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
