Surprise Inspection On Kg Sg Teraban Fishing Operators
By Hjh Saemah Zulkefli

Bandar Seri Begawan - A surprise inspection on two fishing operators in the Kampong Sungai Teraban area was held yesterday morning.

The inspection, dubbed 'Operasi Sepadu Kembura 20', was led by the Fisheries Department.

A total of 20 people from several enforcement agencies including the Royal Brunei Police Force, Labour Department, Immigration Department and Internal Security Department were involved in the operation.

However, no offences were recorded during the inspection, which was held for two hours from 10 am.

The operation was aimed at ensuring that fishermen in the district abided by the law and that no fishing was conducted near the oil platforms of BSP Sdn Bhd.

The operation was also aimed at ensuring that the Labour and Immigration Laws were upheld.

The routine inspection also checked for fishermen who used explosives and poison to catch fish, which is against the Fisheries and Internal Security Regulations. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
