Reading Quran To Upgrade Literacy
Rate Among Muslims
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Brunei encourages its ummah to read the Quranic
verses to upgrade the literacy rate among Muslims in the country.
In a continuous effort to glorify the
holy Quran, the Nuzul Al-Quran or the revelation of the holy book has
been adopted as a national event.
The Quran is made up of 114 chapters
called surah, which appear from the second chapter onward, roughly in
order of length, beginning with the longest and ending with the
shortest chapters.
The first chapter, al-Fatihah, is a
short chapter that is recited during each of the five daily prayers
and in many other prayers.
A typical chapter of the Quran may
address any combination of the themes of God and creation, prophets
and messengers from Adam to Muhammad, Islam as a faith and as a code
of life, human responsibility and judgment, society and law.
Efforts in enhancing the literacy of
the Quran reading in this country have been continuously carried out
by all parties.
The government through the
educational institutions has incorporated the Quran lesson in the
curriculum.
In the international arena, Brunei
has been participating in Quran glorifying activities.
This includes Quran reading and
recitation competitions.
With all the universal content of the
Quran, it provides knowledge to its readers.
Brunei, in this context, also
celebrates the day of the Quran revelation.
Yesterday saw the rehearsal at the
International Convention Centre in Berakas.
Touching on the theme 'Cintakan
Negara Berteraskan Iman', Awang Haji Marzuki bin Haji Abdul Rahman,
the Assistant Secretary of the Nuzul Alquran Ceremony Committee, said
that loving the country based on faith is the best way to contribute
to the country.
Faith and Quran go hand in hand when
it comes to guidance especially on matters of benefits.
