Bandar Seri Begawan – The Islamic Development Bank of Brunei (IDBB) presented a donation to a retiree suffering from a breathing difficulty in a presentation ceremony at his resident in Lambak.

Awang Haji Othman bin Haji Ahmad has served with the civil service for 32 years from 1961 until his retirement in 1993.

Now in his late 70s, he is married with 15 children, five of whom are already working.

Awang Haji Othman said he began to have breathing problem in 1999.

At the recommendation of medical experts, he has since been depending on the Air Set Oxygen Concentrator worth $3,800 to ease his ailment and assist with his daily life.

Without the machine, he said, it would be difficult for him to breathe normally.

The gift was handed over by Dato Haji Ahmad, director of IDBB.

Aside from the contribution, Awang Haji Othman received a cheque amounting to $1,000.

The money is intended to alleviate his financial burden in making preparation for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
