Brunei Steps Up ISO 9001 Standards
To Meet Customers’ Demand

Begawan – The Administration and Finance sections of the Public
Works Department has made a step forward in implementing the
International Organization of Standardization (ISO) 9001 in all
aspects of administration and internal audit in the Sultanate.
Awang
Haji Mohamad Alimin bin Haji Mohamad Tanjung, Acting Director of
Administration and Finance, officially launched the implementation of
ISO 9001 yesterday.
All aspects of administration and
finance managements are now initiated in accordance to ISO 9001
standards outlined to facilitate internal auditing in a more
systematic procedure.
As of July this year, in preparations
for the implementation of ISO 9001, the Department of Administration
and Finance or DAF for short, has taken up a number of steps in
strategic programme planning such as the setting up of a Management
Review Committee.
The programme is tasked at organising
seminars on understanding and drumming up awareness among officers and
staff pertaining to internal audit as well as in compiling and
updating of information in accordance with the standardization.
Awang
Haji Mohamad Alimin, the Acting Director of Administration and
Finance, stressed that the implementation ISO 9001 standards in the
administration and finance sections would be assured of an efficient
and effective service to meet clients requirements and all
stakeholders and to continuously improved effectiveness of quality
management system.
Awang
Haji Mohamad Alimin believes that with the implementation of the ISO
9001 the administration and finance sections of the Public Works
Department will be on par with other countries observing the ISO 9001.
At the function, officials and staff
of the department were presented with certificates on completion of a
seminar and workshop on understanding of ISO 9001.
With the implementation, two more
sections under the Public Works Department have been accredited by the
ISO 9001.
The standardization is implemented
for the benefit of management and finance aside from encouraging
quality management based on the practice and concept of
standardization worldwide.
ISO 9001 is aimed at satisfying
customers' demand and effective management system in order to overcome
various issues in an organisation so as to achieve improvement.
