A new international furniture plaza officially opened its doors to its customers for the first time in the Sultanate yesterday.

HuaXia International (Brunei) Sdn Bhd is part of a chain of companies that operate in countries such as Indonesia, Singapore and Canada and its arrival in the Sultanate reflects Brunei potential for international market.

HuaXia is located at one of the buildings at Manggis Centre along Jalan Muara. Suitable to house a variety of furniture and household items, the building was converted from a shopping complex into a furniture plaza that provides contemporary furniture such as rosewood and the more modernised style of sofa and furniture.

Present to officiate the launching ceremony yesterday morning was Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Mohiddin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Also present was Mr Wei Wei, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China.

Lin Jiang Feng, Managing Director for HuaXia International (Brunei), told the guests at the launching ceremony that the company felt confident to open a new branch in Brunei and it will not only benefit the customers but also contribute to the economy of the country.

He added that HuaXia would expose the public to a wide selection of quality furniture including rosewood, which is its speciality.

It will encourage the public to spend in the country instead of buying from neighbouring countries.

The operating hours for the new furniture plaza are from 10 am to 10pm.

Currently there is a 50 per cent discount promotion for all items while stocks last.
