Today
By Azaraimy HH
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Members of the public are invited to experience the
magic of two top Korean magicians today at 2pm at the Central Lecture
Theatre, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
The show by the two Korean magicians,
Kim Jonb Soo and Oh Eun-Young, is being held in conjunction with the
Korean National Day.
Yesterday, they performed for VIPs
and other guests at the Korean National Day reception at the ICC.
Korean Ambassador Mr Kim Woong-nam
said that magic teaches people to have creative minds.
He said that there are only two
places where you can learn magic in a university, one of them is in
Korea, at the Dong-a In-jae University's Magic Department.
The show, said Mr Kim Woong-nam, will
help to further promote cultural exchanges and build up ties between
Korea and Brunei.
Kim Jong-Soo said that magic is both
an art and a science. He said a magician is an artist who performs
magic on stage not by using supernatural powers but by utilising a
creative mind and science.
Kim Jong-Soo, a member of the
International Brotherhood of Magic (IBM) and the International
Magician's Society (IMS), is a professor at Dong-a In-jae University's
Magic Department.
He has done many shows in Korea. He
is the first magician to open a magic concert in Korea and took part
in the Jeff McBride Magic Show Tour in Korea.
He made guest appearances at the Hong
Kong International Magic Festival and the Japan Magic Convention. He
has also appeared in television programmes.
Oh Eun-Young, like Jong-Soo Kim, is a
specialist in magic, dance, acting and miming. She is also a member of
IBM and IMS as well as a professor at Dong-a In-jae University's
Department of Magic.
She won the EIMC Award in the 2003
Eddy International Magic Convention in Hong Kong. A former Asiana
Airline stewardess, she writes a weekly magic column titled "Oh Eun-Young's
Love Magic" in the Daily Sports newspaper.
She appears regularly on "Comedy
Club"/Channel KBS. Her appearances included those at the 2001
International Communication Convention in Peking, China, 2002
Korea-Japan World Cup Magic Show and 2003 Korea National Track &
Field's Competition Opening Show.
She has also done many shows in large
theatres and major hotels. She is the author of the bestsellers "Oh
Eun Young's Magic School" and "Magic Pang Pang, Science Pang Pang".
