Some 34 final-year mechanical
students of a technical college currently undergoing a short
entrepreneurship course were given an opportunity to learn the tricks
of the trade yesterday at the Gerai-Serbanika Persekutuan
Peniaga-Peniaga Melayu Brunei (PPPMB) at the car park area of Bangunan
Delima Desa, Kg Serusop.
The Maktab Teknik Sultan Saful
Rijal's students conducted sales of products such as living-room
tables, iron vase stands, barbeque stands, cakes and biscuits made by
them. With the help of PPPMB, they were able to analyse marketing
strategy from the customer satisfaction level to the sensational level
in their bid to enter entrepreneurship if they are not able to secure
employment after graduation.
According to Cikgu Harun, around 30
percent of MTSSR graduates would be unemployed soon after graduation
over the last few years. It will take them a period of one to three
years or more after graduation before they could secure jobs.
"The entrepreneurship course is to
expose them to business as one option to make a living if they could
not find jobs. This way they could contribute to nation building."
