Septuagenarian Gets Exemplary Award for Converts

Bangar (Temburong) – Working hard in learning and assisting the Islamic Dakwah Centre in propagating Islamic teachings has earned a 71-year-old new convert from Temburong District an exemplary award for converts in the district.

Awang Haji Hashim Bin Abdullah was selected to receive the award this year. He embraced Islam 25 years ago.

His efforts in helping the Dakwah Islamiah Center in propagating Islamic glories among the non-Muslims resident especially in Temburong made him as a good example for converts.

He said, he embraced Islam because he found no other true religion besides Islam.

According to him, he studied other religions before, but found none suited his soul.

Awang Hj Hashim is also active in social works. His love in Islam has encouraged him to deepen his knowledge in the religion by reading religious books.

As an exemplary convert, Awang Haji Hashim called on non-Muslims to choose and embrace Islam as their new faith with pure sincerity and not because of other.

The award earned Awang Haji Hashim a certificate of appreciation, cash prize of $900 and religious books published by the Islamic Dakwah Centre. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
