In NAM Countries
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Greater improvements are expected in the Small and
Medium Enterprises (SMES) in NAM countries with the winding up of a
three-day meeting on increasing prospects for rapid and sustainable
socio-economic development.
The meeting on rapid and sustainable
socio-economic development through Business Incubators and
Entrepreneurship ended yesterday afternoon.
The Ministry of Industry and Primary
Resources in collaboration with the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)-Centre
for South-South Technical Cooperation (CSSTC) organized the
conference.
In his closing remarks, Haji Abdul
Rahman Haji Chuchu, Director of Promotion and Entrepreneurial
Development, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, said that the
meeting will allow greater facilitation and cooperation between NAM
member countries to collectively enhance the capacities in delivering
business incubator services to SMES as well as developing
entrepreneurial qualities.
In addition, the meeting has come up
with recommendations that could strengthen existing support programs
for SMES and consider mechanisms by which the NAM-CSSTC can become a
more effective institution in bringing SMES into the forefront of
economic development efforts.
The meeting benefited Brunei as
experts shared their experiences which would strengthen the foundation
of support programs in developing Brunei's SMES.
