Teach Children To read Quran, Parents Told

Bandar Seri Begawan - Parents have the responsibility to teach their children to read the Quran and to take the holy book as their guide in life.

The first step to achieve this is by introducing children to Al-Quran.

Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Yahya, Deputy Minister Of Religious Affairs, said this at the final of the memorizing Quran verses and selected Surahs to commemorate the Nuzul Al-Quran celebration at the Islamic Dakwah Centre yesterday morning.

In his address, he also advised to those who have memorized the Quran verses to always maintain their personality as an Al-Quran memorizer.

Twelve participants competed in the final which was divided into four categories. The finalists were selected from the semi-final competition which was held on the 16th and 17th of last month at the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Kampung Sengkurong.

The winners will be announced at the national level Nuzul Al-Quran celebration which will be held on 17th Ramadan 1424 at the International Convention Centre.

The Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs then presented souvenirs to all the participants who competed in yesterday's event.

The competition was jointly organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Prison Department at The Ministry of Home Affairs. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
