Teenager Freed On Bail For Theft Charges

Bandar Seri Begawan - Chief Magistrate Pg Rostaina yesterday released a 17-year-old Bruneian on $4,000 bail or one local surety after he pleaded guilty to a charge of committing theft.

Md Sahrul pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing four sport rims worth about $1,600 and four tyres belonging to Hj Hasrin Hj Aman, 23, from a house in Kg Perpindahan STKRJ Rimba, Gadong in September this year.

The defendant, however, denied a charge of stealing $300 from a cash register at Kedai Hasinah Restaurant at Rimba Complex in Kg Rimba and $300 from a drawer belonging to 47 year-old Kader Shareet Mohamed Hussain on August 8 this year. He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of committing mischief by causing wrongful damage to a door lock of Kedai Hasinah Restaurant.

Prosecuting officer, Pg Nina Jasmine Pg Hj Bahrin, told the court that the prosecution will bring eight witnesses to prove the case against Md Sahrul Yasmin Md Yassin for the other two charges. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
