Three Behind Bars For Immigration Offences

Bandar Seri Begawan - Three Bangladeshis men were brought to the Magistrate’s Court yesterday for an offence under the Immigration Act.

Yousof Late Nakim Uddin, 31, was sentenced to 9 months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to remained in this country unlawfully for a period of 811 days, after his permitted to leave pass expired on the August 2, 2001.

Atar Ali Asgar, 31, was jailed for 6 months after he admitted to stay in this country illegally for a period of 251 days in which his employment pass had expired on the February 13, this year.

Meanwhile, Md Rafiqul Islam Md Anawerul, 26, was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment after he had failed to produce on demand by an Immigration Officer a valid pass as evidence that he have entered or remained in this country lawfully.

The three men were arrested by the Immigration Officers at a rented house located at Simpang 396-53-59 in the vicinity of Kampong Selayun, three days ago. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
