Dates Distributed To All Muslims

Begawan - The distribution of dates from His Majesty’s personal
contribution (Kurma Kurnia Kdymm) is being progressively distributed
nationwide.
This year 108 metric tonnes of fresh
'Mabrum' type of dates imported from Saudi Arabia to be distribute to
Muslim in the country before the month of Ramadan.
Over 215,700 people are expected to
receive their share in Brunei Muara District. Every Muslim regardless
of their ages is to receive 300 grammes per person.
Penghulus
and Kampong Ketuas are given responsibility for distributing the dates
for villagers and Muslim via welfare bodies and its consultative
committee of the Mukim and Kampong institutions.
Tuesday afternoon saw Kampong Ketua
of Lambak Kiri Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme, Awang Haji
Hamdani Bin Omar handed over dates to its villagers.
The board members of Sultan Haji
Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation, Acting Brunei Muara District Officer and
Penghulus of some Mukims witnessed the handing out of dates.
More than 5,000 Muslim in Lambak Kiri
Landless Indigenious Citizen Housing Scheme and its surrounding area
are receiving the dates.
The dates are personal contribution
of His Majesty and His Family reflecting His Majety's great concern to
his subject and citizen in the country. His Royal Highness Prince
Abdul Malik does the distribution accordingly prior to recent
launching of contribution.

said dates should be given evenly as expected by the Sultan of Brunei.
Since 1992 the dates were first
distributed to Muslims and was done by Ministry of Education and from
1995 onward the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation was given
responsibility for managing its contribution.
Dates are considerd Sunnat for
breaking the fast according to Islam. Apart from it nourishment value,
dates is analysed to have sugar content which is useful to maintain
