Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hazair, Permanent Secretary at the Prime
Minister's Office delivers his speech.

Awg. Haji Sapawi, Director of Management Services Department.
Strategic planning by all ministries
and departments under it ensures success and effectiveness of its
mission, vision and objective. However, it will require proper
coordination, cooperation and support from all relevant agencies.
This was observed by the Permanent
Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Dato Paduka Awang Haji
Hazair, who was speaking during the launching of a two-day symposium
on 'Civil Service Alignment Programme' yesterday morning. It was held
at Dewan Setia Pahlawan, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.
An important objective of Civil
Service is to provide more efficient, effective, productive and
ethical services, the Permanent Secretary noted. By prioritising on
proper steps, it will avoid wastage in the implementation of
government projects, he added.
There is a need to effectively
implement the distribution and use of organisation resources 'with
better justification'.
The symposium is in line with His
Majesty's titah, which was delivered during His Majesty's 57th
birthday celebration in July. It stressed the need for all ministries
and government departments to focus on alignment programmes.
Like other countries, he added, the
Civil Service of Brunei Darussalam is undergoing a rapid change and is
facing challenges due to growing public demand, advancement in
technology and new ideas in the management field of economic
competition - both regionally and internationally.
The two-day symposium was co-organised
by Management Services Department and Civil Service Institute of the
Prime's Minister Department. It was attended by permanent secretaries
and deputy permanent secretaries, heads of department, directors and
senior officials.
Earlier, the Director of Management
Services Department, Awg. Haji Sapawi bin Bolhassan delivered a
speech. He is also the co-chairman of the symposium committee.
