Converts Show Their Qur’an Skill
At Competition Finals

Begawan - One way to safeguard the Akidah of faith of Muslims
is to encourage them to the read Qur’an and to get to know content of
the holy book and its interpretation.
By doing so, they can put into
practice what the holy book really requires and at the same time shape
up themselves as true Muslims.
Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Yahya
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs said this during the memorising
the Ayat Ayat Lazim and Nasyid Qur’an reading competition finals for
new converts nationwide.
He said the Muslim society is facing
full of challenges in the current situation known as globalisation and
they are exposed to the elements, which can jeopardise their faith or
Akidah.
He also called on Muslims to
safeguard their faith or Akidah as undesirable elements or groups will
keep trying to deviate the faith of Muslims through unhealthy
activities.
The competition's aim was to produce
potential readers and memorisers among the new converts.
Participants from the Temburong,
Awang Mokhsin Bin Mohamad Karim and Dayang Nurul Ayuni Binti Abdullah
won first place in their respective categories in the reading of al
Qu’ran competition.
Another participant from the
Temburong, Awang Mohamad Salleh Dicky Bin Abdullah came out top in the
memorising of Ayat Ayat Lazim for the male category while Dayang Nur
Haziyah Binti Muhammad Abas from the Tutong District was the winner in
the female category.
Meanwhile the Nur Islam team from the
Pesatu association in Tutong emerged champion in the Nasyid category.
