End Of Song On Saturday For Some
Who Were In For A Surprise

Begawan – It was end of song for six karaoke joints on Saturday
night in the Brunei capital.
A surprise joint operation targeting
illegal entertainment shops also detained two local men and two women
for drinking alcohol and operating karaoke outlets.
Codenamed "Gerakan Sepadu Bahagia 8"
it was carried out against six entertainment centers, believed to run
their businesses without a special licence.
Personnel from the Royal Brunei
Police stations in Sengkurong, Limau Manis and Jerudong and Customs
and Excise Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Department
of Land Transport and Labour Department officers jointly performed the
surprise checks.
In the operation, the law enforcers
confiscated karaoke entertainment equipment and other business
facilities.
They also detained a local man and a
woman who violated the entertainment act. The law enforcers also
apprehended another local man and two women who were found drinking
liquor. Twelve foreign nationals were also held for violating the
country's immigration act.
Meanwhile, another group of law
enforcers from the Land Transport Department and personnel from the
Limau Manis Police Station were involved in a further operation
codenamed 'Semerbak 35'.
The group detained a number of
vehicle owners who had illegal modification to their cars.
