President of the Association of
Overseas Chinese Taipei Awg Lim Tiong Tin urged the representative of
Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam James CH Chen
to consider granting permanent residents in Brunei visits to the
country visa free.
This was suggested during James'
visit to the Association Office in Kiulap last Friday.
If these were made possible, it would
provide more convenience to both visitors and businessmen from the two
countries, he said.
Chen was quick to respond by
promising to look into the matter and hopefully finding a way to
resolve the problem.
Chen was accompanied by his wife
Maria Chen during his visit to the Association Office. They were
greeted by the association president as well as the executive
committee members.
This was Chen's first visit to the
office, since he was appointed as the representative of Taipei
Economic and Cultural Office.
The representative said efforts would
be made to further strengthen ties between the two countries in areas
such as economy and culture.
