Ex-UBD lecturer in critical
condition
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Former Universiti Brunei Darussalam
lecturer Dr Abd Aziz Hanafi was in critical condition at the Kuala
Lumpur General Hospital yesterday afternoon, said family members.
He was reported to be suffering from
kidney ailments and other illnesses when admitted last week.
Dr Abd Aziz is expected to return
next Friday. He will help with the curriculum of Arabic primary
schools and another project for a one-month period.
He often gives religious talks not
only on television and the radio, but in mosques as well, especially
at dawn and dusk.
People remember the high-profiler for
his funny quips. "It's hard to fall asleep when Dr Abd Aziz Hanafi
delivers religious talks," said an avid listener.
Shortly after finishing his contract
in this country years ago, Dr Abd Aziz Hanafi was appointed as the
Director of Kolej Islam Darul Ulum (Kidu) at Kompleks Pendidikan
Islam, Muassasah Darul Ulum near Alor Setar in Kedah.
A former lecturer of Academy Islam at
Universiti Malaya, he is currently the Deputy Commissioner of PAS
Perlis, an Islamic political party in Malaysia.
He contested the last general
election for Parlimen Arau, Perlis but lost to a BN candidate.
