Civilian Staff Sports Festival Ends

Bandar Seri Begawan - The second sport festival among civilian staff of the Ministry of Defence 2003 ended yesterday afternoon with the Department of Development and Work Services emerging as the champion.

By collecting seven gold medals, six silver and four bronze, it defeated other 10 departments.

Yesterday afternoon saw the finals of tug of war contest. In the event the Muara "A" civilian services emerged champion after beating the Muara 'B' civilian services teams.

Twelve events including badminton, football, volleyball, darts, futsal and snooker were competed during the five months festival.

On hand to present the prizes was Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Abdul Kani Permanent Secretary Finance and Development at Ministry of Defence,

In second place up was the Technical Engineering Management Departments with six gold, six silver and three bronzes medal while the civil service team of Berakas was placed third with four gold, two silver and three bronze. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
