New Head For Kampong Batong Named

Bandar Seri Begawan - Awang Hj Sharbini bin Dato Awang Haji Moksin, 56, has been appointed Kampong Batong’s new village head. He resumed office on September 11.

Kampong Batong, Mukin Pengkalan Batu, in the Brunei-Muara District has a population of 590 and 108 homes.

Besides looking after the welfare of Kampong residents, kampong Ketua is also responsible to maintain and strengthen understanding, unity and harmony among the community.

Dato Awang Haji Mohd Yusof the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs said this at the presentation of certificate for the new Kampong Ketua of Batong, yesterday morning.

Dato Haji Mohd Yusof reminded of the wider role and responsibilities of Kampong Ketua that cover not only the welfare of the Kampong community, but also the safety, culture, religion and economy of the village.

A Ketua Kampong should also be equipped with knowledge, the country's law and regulations as well as the current development of the country. He should also be ready to work at any time.

Particular or specific issues of a Mukim or Kampong can be solved together effectively and with full responsibility through discussion, meeting and cooperation from the Kampong residents, he added..
