Cyclist hit by vehicle ends up with broken limbs
By Hjh Saemah Zulkefli

An Indonesian man suffered serious injuries in a road accident in Jalan Singa Menteri Mumong on Thursday night. The 9pm incident reportedly left the Indonesian, Supangat, 50, with a broken left leg and a broken right hand after he was hit by a vehicle when he was crossing the road on his bicycle.

A witness of the accident claimed that the man hit the wind-screen before landing on the road after a vehicle heading from Seria hit him. The vehicle flipped and ended up in a big drain. The man was reported to be treated at Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait.

Police promptly reminded cyclists to always have lights switched on when riding at night and ensure they have good brakes. Residents claim that many cyclists especially among the foreigners, frequently ride without lights and proper brakes. They also ride bicycles meant for children.
