Indonesian Woman Jailed For
Impersonation

Begawan - A 38-Year-Old Indonesian woman, who impersonated
another Indonesian woman to re-enter Brunei after being barred, was
sentenced to jail in 6 months.
Casmiroh
pleaded guilty to impersonating Siti Iroh Sahar, 38, also an
Indonesian national.
The court heard that the defendant
was previously convicted under the Islamic Council-Act and was
sentenced to 3 months and 10 days in jail.
After being released from prison, she
was handed over to the Immigration Repatriation Unit and sent back to
Indonesia on September 12, 2001, said Moharefandi Hj Md Tahir, the
Immigration Prosecutor.
The court was told that sometime in
January last year, she had submitted an application for an Indonesian
passport at Jakarta Timur.
Moharefandi
said before the application was made, she had changed her name in KTP
(Kartu Tanda Penduduk) under the said name and also changed her birth
date to March 12, 1965 instead of her real birth date of March 12,
1964.
The defendant was arrested three days
ago by the Immigration Enforcement Officers at a house No. 3 in
Simpang 60-22 Kampong Lambak Kanan.
