Students Turn Lawyers And Criminals In Moot Court

Bandar Seri Begawan – Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) has held a moot court aimed at providing students with a feel of the real situation in court and to discern how cases on trial are dealt with.

Moot court is one of the programmes that is a must for students reading law.

The programme provides practical training in handling cases in court on completion of their studies.

The moot court presented a case of robbery and a murder.

The trial involved three suspects who robbed four people and that one of them was killed by one of the suspects.

Students taking Islamic law programme who were involved in the moot court acted as the lawyers and suspects.

The initiative by the Syar'ie dialogue committee in holding the moot court is to familiarise students with the implementation of court processes and law procedures.

The programme has been perceived in helping to further enhance students' interests on matters relating to law and its importance in ensuring a harmonious global society. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
