Second Time Drug Offender Lands
Behind Bars

Begawan - A drug offender got the minimum sentence of three
years jail yesterday when he pleaded guilty to two charges of
consuming Methylamphetamine.

Ahmad was also fined $500 or a month in jail each for two offences of
failing to report himself to the Supervision Officer of the Narcotic
Control Bureau.
He failed to pay the fine and will
serve the default sentence, ordered to run consecutively, with his
other sentence.
NCB
prosecutor, Pg Othman Pg Hj Ali said yesterday the defendant was
sentenced by the Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri to three years
jail term each on the two consuming offences, on October 2 and October
16, 1999.
The two sentences were ordered to run
concurrently.
Pg Othman said the NCB officers of
Supervision and Investigation unit detained the defendant on February
19, 2000.
His urine samples taken on both dates
were found to contain a class A controlled drug.
He also failed to report himself to
NCB as was ordered. --
