His Majesty And HRH Prince
Mohammed Leaves For OIC Summit

Kuala Lumpur –
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan Brunei arrived
in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Accompanying His Majesty was His
Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign
Affairs.
Present at Sultan Salahuddin Abdul
Aziz Shah Airport, Subang to greet His Majesty was Senator Datuk
Tengku Adnan Bin Tengku Mansor, Minister in the Prime Minister's
Office of Malaysia and other senior officials of the Malaysian
government.
Also present at the airport was Dato
Haji Abdullah Bin Haji Mohamad Jaafar, Brunei’s High Commissioner to
Malaysia.
His Majesty will deliver a statement
during the general debate at the summit.
His Majesty will also attend several
bilateral meetings with OIC leaders during the summit.
More than 30 heads of
states/government of the OIC will attend the 10th Session of the
Islamic Summit Conference of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).
The two-day summit begins on
Thursday.
The theme for the summit is
"Knowledge and morality and the unity and dignity for the progress of
the Ummah."
The theme was chosen to show the
important aspect of knowledge in the development of the Islamic Ummah.
During the summit, the OIC leaders
are expected to discuss regional and international political issues
including the post-war Iraq, the Palestinian problem and the recent
air strike in Syria.
The leaders will also discuss the
issue of reform of the OIC and consider the reports from the three
main committees namely the economic and commercial cooperation,
scientific and technical cooperation and information and cultural
affairs.
At the end of the summit, the OIC
leaders are expected to endorse and adopt the final communiqué and the
Putrajaya Declaration on knowledge and morality and unity and dignity
for the progress of Ummah.
The organisation, established on
September 25, 1969 in Rabat, Morocco, is a grouping of 57 Islamic
countries.
Brunei became a member of OIC on
January 15, 1984 at the Fourth Islamic Summit conference in Rabat,
Morocco.
His Majesty left Brunei for Kuala
Lumpur yesterday afternoon.
Before departure, Doa Selamat was
read by the State Mufti, Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz.
With His Majesty was His Royal
Highness Prince Mohammed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Present at the airport to bid
farewell were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muthadee Billah, the
Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah and His
Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen.
Also present at the airport were
pengirans cheteria, cabinet ministers, deputy ministers and senior
government officers. --
