Filipino Fined $1,000 For Immigration Offence
By Malai FadleyRizal

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Filipino was fined $1,000 after failing to produce his passport when leaving Brunei to Limbang and admitting to the crime before the Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Prosecutor Moharefandi Hj Md Tahir said that Aivan Alania Miquel, 23, was stopped at the Kuala Lurah Immigration control post for arrival clearance from Limbang when officers found that there was no departure mark stamped in it on a date prior to his arrival here.

The defendant told investigators that he came here in July this year to visit his aunt.

He said that he wanted to extend his social visit pass by going to Limbang and re-entering Brunei last month. However, he had forgotten to get his passport stamped at the said control post upon departure from Brunei. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
