Bandar Seri
Begawan - A 23-year-old local was jailed for 3 months by the
Magistrate’s Court yesterday after he pleaded guilty to stealing a
Sony Playstation.
Sani
bin Sabli admitted to committing the theft of the said items from
Abdul Rasheed Abdullah Packir Rawoother and selling it for $150 to a
person in Kampong Ayer.
The court heard that on April 14,
2000 Abdul Rasheed was at his workplace, at Modern Motor Workshop
Kampong Delima in Jalan Muara.
While he was at the workshop, the
defendant arrived on a bicycle and asked him if he was selling a ‘Sony
Playstation’ whereby Abdul Rasheed confirmed that he was and that it
was in his room.
Prosecuting Officer Adina Mohd
Aliddin told the court that Abdul Rasheed and the defendant then went
to Abdul Rasheed's room situated near to the workshop. He then showed
the defendant his Playstation, which he intended to sell for $450. The
defendant then agreed to purchase the items and told Abdul Rasheed
that he would come later.
Several hours later, while Abdul
Rasheed was repairing a car at the workshop, the defendant arrived.
Abdul Rasheed then showed the items for sale, which was placed, in a
room outside his bedroom. (Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin)
The defendant asked Abdul Rasheed if
he could smoke his cigarette and asked Abdul Rasheed if he had some
matches. Abdul Rasheed then went into his bedroom to get matches.
However, when he came back, the defendant had left and the Playstation
was gone, Adina told the court.
She said the item has not been
recovered to date. --
