Religious Minister Visits Temburong Dakwah

Temburong – Pehin Dato Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Mohamad Zain, Minister of Religious Affairs, visited the Dakwah Unit of the Temburong District yesterday.

During the visit, the Religious Minister was briefed on the administration and management of the unit by the chief of the Temburong's Dakwah Unit, Awang Haji Gapor.

Apart from that the Minister of the Religious Affairs also discussed and exchanged views on several matters.

Meanwhile, Awang Haji Yusof Bin Haji Ismail, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, said mosques should be able to play its role strengthening the society's faith.

Mosque administrators must look in a wider context, not to limit the function of mosques as a shrine only but also as a venue to chart the future, development and civilisation.

Speaking at a seminar of Mosque Management in the Belait and Temburong Districts, Awang Haji Yusof Bin Haji Ismail called on mosque officials to help develop the community, and at the same time to ensure the community is not influenced by negative elements.

At this juncture, he urged officials to work hand-in-hand with law enforcement agencies in maintaining the harmonious life and the faith of the community toward their religion.

At this seminar, two working papers were presented by the imams from the Kampung Kilanas Mosque and the Kampung Bunut Mosque.

Some 30 imams and bilals from the Belait and Temburong Districts attended this gathering held at the Mohd Salleh Utama Mosque in Pekan Bangar. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
