Culture, Youth & Sports Minister
attends Asean meet

The Minister of Culture, Youth and
Sports, Pehin Dato (Dr) Awg Hj Hussain Hj Mohd Yusof, yesterday
departed for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to attend Asean Culture and Arts
Ministers meeting to be held today.
In a press release from the Ministry
of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), the trip also coincided with the
Asean Artistry Festival which commenced yesterday until October 20 in
Kuala Lumpur.
Accompanying the minister is the
permanent secretary at MCYS, Awg Hj Jemat Hj Ampal and several senior
government officers, who left last Sunday, October 12. The permanent
secretary and group will attend the senior government meeting. Also
departing last Sunday were an artistry group comprising 29 members who
will participate in the Asean Arts Festival.
Held for the first time, the Asean
Culture and Arts Ministers meeting is organised to strengthen the
understanding and unity of Asean community, besides to increase
regional development, and it will be organised as an annual agenda
where each Asean member country will take turn to host the event.
The meeting will also increase
cooperation and unity spirit among Asean countries and with the
festival conducted, it is also hoped to create opportunities to
upgrade the Asean image, the growth of economy and tourism industry as
well as other fields that are related in the region.
