Good Performance At All Ages Soccer Competition
By Rosdin Hj Abd Aziz

Bandar Seri Begawan - The head of Adat Istiadat, Pg Anak Hj Abd Aziz urged all B-League teams to give their very best in all games and not just in deciders. "A good performance is essential not just during the final stages of a competition, but more importantly, at all levels of a tournament," he said.

He also stressed on the importance of a good stamina and teamwork, and called upon players to exhibit similar enthusiasm to the game as shown by veteran players.

PLCSN Pg Anak Hj Abd Aziz made the comments dating the Anugerah Liga Kebangsaan (National League Awards) ceremony in the capital yesterday.

In his address earlier, the Secretary-General of the Brunei Football Association (BAFA), Pg Hj Matussin Pg Hj Matasan, expressed his delight at the level of "improvement" shown by the participating teams this year. Even so, he cited the "extreme" conduct of some fans, which he said, could blemish the B-League itself.

"Supporters should watch their behaviour and not do things that are detrimental," he said, as he touched on the quality of refereeing in the B-League in general.

The director of B-League Sdn Bhd, Sheikh Noordin Sheikh Mohammad, for his part said: "Even though we lacked properly-qualified referees, we are still pleased by the referees' performances overall, and will try to increase their number from the 40 currently available."

Meanwhile, the B-League could start in March next year, to accommodate the introduction of a new format of Divisions One and Two, he disclosed.

Players from FA Cup champions ABDB won three of the nine awards on offer yesterday: Saipul Rizal Abdullah was Best Player Overall; Rosdy Kapal was Best Goalkeeper; and Sardillah Hj Abdullah was Best Young Player.

Newly-crowned B-League champions Wijaya garnered two awards, through Hj Md Subhi Abdillah Hj Bakir for Rest M-League Player and Md Ali Mustafa for Best Coach.
