SOASC hosts History Workshop

welcomed 46 history teachers for the presentation of certificates at
the History Workshop, which took place at the SOAS College from March
13 to September 25, 2003. The guest of honour at the function was
Cikgu Apsah bte Hj Abd Majid, Director of Schools, Ministry of
Education.

Apsah in her speech thanked the organiser of the workshop, Mrs Quah
Teo Siew King, for her dedication and commitment to making the
workshop a success. She added that "the teaching and learning process
in all the schools in Brunei should continuously be upgraded if we
want to achieve greater effectiveness in the classrooms. To enhance
the professional development of teachers, the Department of Schools
continues to encourage teachers to further enrich their skills in
order to adapt to the challenged of our ever changing environment."
Her advice to all participants was to
aim high in their profession, ensure excellence in the classroom and
in doing so, success would follow. Teachers should possess the will
and be passionate about History, she said, adding that teachers should
also be convincing and show commitment in adopting new ideas when
teaching history in order to achieve good results in the subject.
The highlight of the function was the
launching of the CD-ROM about Historical matters for Secondary 1 to 4.
