Foreign Muslim Couples Held In Kg Kapok Raid

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two Muslim couples from neighbouring countries will be charged for close proximity following a police-religious raid on a flat in Kg. Kapok on Thursday night.

They will be charged under Section 177 (1) (2). The four suspects were brought to a police station for investigation into possible immigration offences but were later released as they had not broken any immigration laws.

The suspects were nabbed during spot checks conducted by personnel from Muara police station at several sites in Muara town, Serasa Kapok and Mentiri to trace illegal foreign workers.

The operation was part of the Royal Brunei Police Force's continuing operation to rid the country of any undesirable activities.

The checks were carried out at their foreigners' residences. Six places were raided to check the validity of their travel documents.

The operation involved two agencies, 28 police personnel and 12 religious enforcement officers, and led by OCPD of Muara police station, Supt Pg. Kamaluddin.

The operation codenamed "Sepadu" was carried from 9pm till 12 midnight, Supt Pg. Kamaluddin said no immigration-related offences were detected. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
