Health Ministry Launches Outdoor
Programme On Healthy Life

Begawan – The Ministry of Health, in cooperation with Mukim
Sengkurong, launched an outdoor programme on the way to a healthy life
at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre yesterday.
The programme is expected to
encourage people to do exercise and sports activities which can help
lower the risk of having infectious diseases such as cardiovascular
disease and diabetes. It is also intended to help control cholesterol
level in the blood, prevent and control high blood pressure, increase
energy and also curb stress and depression.
The main activity was a walkathon
which covered the roadside around the Jerudong Amusement Park.
Awang
Sabali, Director of Immigration and National Registration, led the
walkathon.
Attention at the exercise session was
drawn towards the oldest man and woman living in Mukim Sengkurong.
They received awards for their longevity.
The oldest man alive is Haji Asmat
Bin Jabih, who is 95 yearsold, from Kampong Lugu. The oldest woman is
Hajah Timbang Bin Haji Dollah, who is 96 years old and lives in
Kampong Katimahar.
The other activities included a
colouring contest for children.
An exhibition of posters on health
awareness was also held. It was participated in by both the government
agencies and the private sector.
Apart from that, the participants and
guests had the opportunity to have their height and weight
measurements taken, to determine whether they are overweight or
